How to break the addiction to a person (part 3): Embrace independence

ABRAZA LA INDEPENDENCIA

1. Medita cómo vas a manejar la situación, cuando en un futuro te pongas en contacto con la persona a la que sientes adicción y de la que te has separado. Debes limitar el contacto con la persona a la que sientes adicción si provoca en ti una baja autoestima y te hace sentir pequeñ@ o no querid@.

2. Cuenta con los síntomas de abstinencia. Ten en cuenta que en lugar de euforia, excitación y enamoramiento, puedes experimentar el miedo, la duda, la soledad y el pánico. Éstas son partes normales de romper un vínculo que te aportó sentimientos positivos.

3. No te centres en el drama. Cuando una relación se rompe, es posible que desees dramatizar, sentirte un poco víctima. Aléjate de ese sentimiento, e intenta no centrarte en el daño que te ha causado la ruptura de la relación adictiva con el fin de conseguir que esta fase de asimilación sea lo más corta posible.

4. Anota tus pensamientos obsesivos acerca de la persona a la que tienes adicción. Lleva un diario contigo, para que puedas describir adecuadamente las fantasías, sentimientos compulsivos y el dolor que sientes.

5. Enfréntate a los sentimientos de soledad o depresión. Si te sientes fuertemente deprimid@, ve al psicólogo, el podrá ofrecerte herramientas que te ayuden a superarlo y que quizás no puedas encontrar por ti mism@ o habla con tus amig@s.

Resuelve tus propios problemas de autoestima antes de comenzar otra relación.

6. Únate a un grupo de terapia sobre la adicción al amor. Podrás ver cómo otras personas también hacen frente a comportamientos obsesivos asociados con el amor.

7. Manten la esperanza. Un estudio realizado por la Universidad de Northwestern, demostró que las personas sobreestiman lo mal que se sienten después de una ruptura. La separación a la que tanto temes puede ser más fácil de superar de lo que piensas.
